I know some people will start sweating reading this but I believe the secret to marriage is having an unlocked phone your partner can look at AT ANY RANDOM TIME.
No not keeping a spare phone in your car or at work. No not have folders that have passwords in your phone. No not clearing all chats before you arrive home.
I once showed a friend my phone and he started scrolling and was surprised I didn't grab my phone back. I said to him, "Scroll long enough you'll find what you're looking for and then what ?"
I have never at any point in any relationship felt a need to have a password on my phone. I have never panicked because I left an unlocked phone with a partner. Was my phone squeaky clean ? Depends on what you call squeaky clean but that sense of panic that someone would see something they are not supposed to see has never befallen me.
Now some people will use the oh my work is sensitive excuse. Then you shouldn't be with someone you don't trust in the first place. And you shouldn't leave sensitive information on your phone because it can still be hacked or stolen anyway.
Having said that, I have never felt the need or urge to go through a partner's phone. I am simply not interested. I don't need to check your phone to know you're cheating unless I wish to remain delusional. Two married male friends once told me they go through their wives' phones to check their account balance "because women lie they don't have money". If you are going through your partner's phone to find out if he's cheating then you are only trying to confirm something you already knew a long time before then.
You had better have a plan once you find what you are looking for. If you have no plan B after you confront them and you remain in that relationship then you have simply given them the go ahead to continue cheating.
I know the thought of leaving an unlocked phone with a partner scares the beejesus out of most people. There are usually the ones eager to go through their partners phones looking for the thing they are trying to hide. Anyone who goes through my unlocked phone will just have a heart attack. I will even leave it with you.
